Meet the Candidate

About Doug

Doug is a West Orange native who has spent nearly his entire life in the community he now seeks to serve. He grew up in rural West Orange on seven acres in what is now one of Orange County’s fastest-growing corridors — raising animals, tending gardens, leading to a deep, personal connection to the land that defines his candidacy today.

The Wild Places

Connected to what he is committed to protecting.

When he’s not in the community, Doug can be found backcountry camping in Central Florida’s remaining wild spaces, exploring the natural environment and staying connected to what he is committed to protecting.

“Conservation and community are the same calling: show up, take care of what matters, and leave things better than you found them.”

— Doug Sahr

Roots in West Orange

Deeper than geography.

Doug’s roots in West Orange run deeper than geography. As a former member and ambassador of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce, he has built lasting relationships across the business and civic community. He has served on the board of Bethany Christian Services, and given many hours volunteering with Matthew’s Hope Ministries, Eight Waves, and Second Harvest Food Bank — organizations that serve some of West Orange’s most vulnerable residents.

Why I’m Running

West Orange deserves a representative who knows this land.

Doug is running for Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District Seat 1 because West Orange deserves a representative who knows this land, knows these people, and has spent a lifetime proving it. He supports responsible growth with real conservation standards — protecting the lakes, waterways, and natural character of West Orange for future generations.
